PAOLO BIELLI

January 23rd will be the appointment with the new solo exhibition of Paolo Bielli who, from the "image boy" of the 80s that he was and the extravagant painter/performer of the 54th Venice Biennale 2011, decided at a mature age to show himself for that who is really, simply an artist.

Paolo Bielli is a true outsider.

Paolo Bielli creates works in which he assembles with extreme expressive freedom ancient photographs that are part of a historical repertoire of "anciens boxeurs", images that are to some extent "archaeological" whose color inserts, whether drawings or fabrics, transform them into scenes at limit of the affected, the artist overturns the meaning of the images, thus making the struggle between men and blood, a theater of gestures and colours, subverting and demystifying any message of violence (A.Iezzi).

Bielli does not change the shape of his works but only the way of presenting them and almost 8 years after the release of his biography published by Gangemi editore he is today a serious and mature artist; we don't care if he wears a boxer bathrobe or a tuxedo, his works are the result of his experience, of the handsome boy photographed in the historic magazine "Frigidaire" and pioneer of the Roman Nights performances of 40 years ago, who brought together the experiences , emotions and memories in images (for those who can) that are cultured and profound.
